Awards
On Thursday 26 February, 2009, the Department of Health and the NHS Purchasing and Supply Agency announced the winners of the awards programme that highlighted and celebrated innovation and success within the field of HCAI related technology and technological developments.
The winners are......
1. Innovative technological concept: originating from industry with the most potential to prevent HCAI.

2. Team or individual from the NHS or industry that has contributed in the most practical way to promoting the development and/or adoption of HCAI related technology.
- Blackpool, Fylde and Wyre Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust
3. Actual new and/or novel HCAI related product or technology likely or proven to help reduce infection.
- TwistDx
4. Innovative technological concept or new and novel product or technology offering the greatest contribution in controlling Clostridium difficile.
- BIOQUELL
5. New and/or novel product or technology with the greatest contribution to enhancing the cleanliness of the hospital environment.
- OSPREY DEEPCLEAN
Awards were also presented to ten trusts which have made an outstanding contribution to fighting infection. The trusts were nominated by their Strategic Health Authority for excellence in infection prevention performance over the past twelve months. One award was made for each of the ten Strategic Health Authority areas. We are pleased to congratulate the following winning trusts:
